Flink OTT - Overview Page

The overview page is the main page you get redirected to after a successful login. It acts as a hub page that provides shortcuts to your swarms and swarm configurations.

Swarms Overview

Flink OTT - Swarms Detail

In the Swarms panel, you can see all existing swarms. You can also click Create to create a new swarm. Note that you can only create swarms if you have created at least one swarm configuration.

For each swarm you can see

Data field Description
ID The unique swarm ID that identifies your swarm in the analytics dashboard.
Name An arbitrary name that you can apply to your swarm
Status Either Online or Offline, depending on whether or not you enabled the swarm. Offline swarms can still be integrated but will never activate.

Creating New Swarms

Flink OTT - Create Swarm

To create a new swarm, you have to provide two data fields

Data field Description
Name An arbitrary name that you can apply to your swarm
Swarm Config A swarm configuration that will be attached to the swarm.

Configs Overview

Flink OTT - Swarm Configs Detail

In the Configs panel, you can see all existing swarm configurations. You can also click Create to create a new swarm configuration. Note that you can only create swarms if you have created at least one swarm configuration.

For each swarm configuration you can see

Data field Description
ID The unique configuration ID that identifies your configuration in the analytics dashboard.
Name An arbitrary name that you can apply to your swarm configuration
Status Either Online or Offline, depending on whether or not you enabled the swarm configuration. Offline configurations can still be applied to a swarm but will never activate.

Creating New Configurations

Flink OTT - Create Configuration

To create a new configuration, you have to provide four data fields

Data field Description
Name An arbitrary name that you can apply to your swarm
Allowed Domain Pattern A Glob Pattern that specifies a domain pattern for the stream resources that your swarm should optimize. For example, if your CDN has multiple edge server domains edge01.yourcompany.yourcdn.com, edge02.youcompany, etc. In this case, you would set your allowed domain pattern to edge??.yourcompany.yourcdn.com.
Matching Policy Determines how a tracker will match peers to clusters. There are three policies available:
Random maps peers randomly without a specific scheme. Although it seems counter-intuitive, this policy works very good for 10.000+ concurrent users
Geo /ISP clusters peers based on network topological information and geoinformation.
ECDN / Intranet maps peers based on their public IPs and/or a given set of subnet masks.
Web Media Selector The Flink OTT Client SDK can track business-relevant data like traffic consumption without any further specification of a video player or similar. However, you can specify a CSS selector that points to your HTML5 player's video tag to collect even more data like buffering events, video quality and much more.
